The problem
The owners' parents were selling their house in another city and wanted to be close to grandkids, but not in the same house.
What we did
We designed a single-level 2-bed laneway home with a step-free entry, wider doorways, and a curbless shower, then carried it through Vancouver's laneway permit process and construction.
The result
The parents live 20 steps from the main house. If plans change, comparable laneway homes rent for $2,600 to $3,000 a month.
